Meowset Abbett, a graduate of Inglemoor High School, is the Lake Washington Singers Vocal Scholarship Award recipient for both 2009 and 2010! Her many accomplishments include five championships at the Puget Sound National Association of Teachers of Singing (in classical and in musical theater), performance in the role of Rosie in "Bye, Bye, Birdie" at her high school, participating in both jazz and chamber choir in high school, and representing the Northlake Region at State where she received three superior ratings as a soprano soloist. She has performed at the 5th Ave Theatre as a nominee for Best Actress from Bye Bye Birdie. In February 2010 Meowset played the part of Belle in Inglemoor High School's production of "Beauty and the Beast". In September 2010 Meowset wowed the audience in her role as Guenevere in Seattle Musical Theatre's 'Camelot'. Meowset enjoys acting and dancing, as well as playing piano and writing music. She hopes to "sustain a career through her passion" for singing, acting, and dancing. Ms Abbett is currently attending the University of Washington studying music and journalism.
Shortly after her High School graduation, Meowset was cast in the role of Princess Guenevere in Seattle Musical Theatre's "Camelot" running from Sept. 10 - Oct. 1, 2010. Needless to say, the reviews were overwelmingly a "Brava" for her performance.
Meowset Abbett (with accompanist Jenifer Kooiman) was featured at the Lake Washington Singers 2010 summer concert when the LWS presented "Rhythms of Life". The 2010 Vocal Scholarship Award was presented to Meowset during the concert. Her High School voice instructor is Cherry Van Overstraeten.
